The thermal center
In the quarter of Calda, plunged in the green, there is a big thermal center, where, from May to October, you can have many types of mineral water treatments and stay in well-equipped accommodation facilities. The thermal complex bases its treatment on the therapeutic value of the waters bicarbonate calcium sulphate and calcium bicarbonate sulphur. The bicarbonate calcic sulphurous of Latronico is specifically indicated for the treatment for diseases of respiratory system, arthro-rheumatic diseases, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal illness, vascular diseases and rehabilitation of respiratory functions. The therapeutic properties of these thermal waters have been exploited since the early twentieth century.
The Archaeological Museum, opened in 1997, includes two exhibition halls. The first one preserves finds from the caves located in the hamlet of Calda, which represent an essential testimony for the study of prehistory of Southern Italy, especially in the period between the 8000 B.C. (Mesolithic) and 1300 B.C. (Bronze Age). In the second exhibition hall there are relics from the indigenous necropolis Enotria of Colle dei Greci, located about 6km from the city, dated VII-VI centuries. B.C. and influenced by Greek culture of the West colonies and the Etruscans ones of Campania.
Museum of Thermae
The museum set-up in the historic thermal complex and built in 1928, was founded on the initiative of the municipality of Latronico and the Pollino National Park, in order to deepen and spread the knowledge about the thermal activity of the territory. Thermae, do not only have an important therapeutic function, they also have been a significant gathering space and an element that has influenced social customs over the years, and became an observatory on the transformation of social life of Latronico in '900.
Museum of the Peasant Culture
This museum, with its 780 objects, is dedicated to the trades of carpenter, blacksmith, shoemaker and as well as to growing grapes, wheat, to the bedroom and transports. In the carpenter's corner are chisels, files, planes, rasps and hammers, while in the blacksmith’s corner you can find tools such as locks, nails, a rock and a work table with all the necessary equipment.
The Prehistoric Caves of Calda
The five caves of Calda have been the main core of archaeological researches by different experts over the years. Inside of them were unearthed not only chalk formations, such as stalactites and stalagmites, but also several finds ranging from 8,000 to 1300 BC, such as lithic industries, pottery from the Copper Age and Neolithic Age up to Bronze Age. These and many other finds are valuable in the Archaeological Museum.
Hiking on Mount Alpi
It is possible to reach the top of the Mount Alpi, a unique natural area where you can see, perched among the rocks, the Bosnian pine. The area of Bosnian pines of the Mount Alps is the most northern one of Italy. It counts approximately 1000 examples distributed between 1200 and 1700 m above sea level. The Mount Alpi, is a destination for excursions, hiking and naturalistic walk you can climb up to the top in several ways: by car and then continue on foot or by following the mountain trails organized by experienced climbers.
Pollino - Sirino
A few kilometres from Latronico there is the massif of Mount Sirino, the extreme Mediterranean offshoot of the National Park of the Lucano Apennines Val d'Agri Lagonegrese, which includes some of the highest peaks of the Mediterranean Apennine. The massif has two ski areas which are connected through the chairlift: the first one is in Lago Laudemio - with a chairlift and two ski lifts serving ski slopes of varying difficulty, where it can be practiced both alpine skiing and Nordic skiing – the second ski area is in the Conserva of Lauria, served by one ski lift .
Latronico, together with 5 municipalities, is part of the Pollino National Park, famous for its variety of flora and fauna as well as for its extension; in fact it is the largest Italian park with its 192,565 hectares. It is recommended for those who love trekking and hiking and thanks to the variety of landscapes in this area, you have the possibility to practice many sports. It is a destination for mountaineering lovers, as well as fans of canyoning, rafting, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking.
Isabella Morra Literary Park - Valsinni
This Park is dedicated to the short life of the poet Isabella Morra and her poetic production, which involves the entire medieval village on a journey back in time.

The Angel flight

Park and spectacle of the Grancia
In the park of the Grancia the spectacle called “La Storia Bandita” is staged, a magnificent example of popular theatre, where 400 volunteers of local people give life to a story inspired by the brigandage.
The Ionian and Tyrrhenian coast
Latronico is located 40km from Maratea, the famous 'Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea', which is characterized by its different landscapes, beautiful coasts and breath-taking views over the sea and offers a wide choice for beach lovers. Its coasts, set in a unique geographical location and environment, is characterized by inlets and caves, rocks and shoals. One of the most famous monuments is definitely the statue of the Christ. It is located on the highest peak of Mount San Biagio, overlooking the old town of Maratea. It was completed in 1965, with a mixture of cement mixed with Carrara marble, by the Florentine sculptor Bruno Innocenti.
At about 80 km there is the Ionian coast: the beaches of Policoro and Novasiri and the archaeological sites of Metaponto. In Policoro we also find the National Museum of Siritide that, with its finds, testifies the Greek presence among Enotri and Lucani, up until the Romanization.
The old Craco
An abandoned village due to a terrible landslide in the 60s and now completely open to the public. Set of many film productions conveys a sense of fascination and mystery.
