Latronico covers a territory of 75 square kilometres, it is mainly mountainous and hilly and is positioned 888 meters above sea level. It includes the hamlets of Agromonte Magnano, Agromonte Mileo, Calda, Serrone, Preti, Procoio, Varrazzo, Cerri, Iannazzo, Lucarelli, Pirricchio, Perosa, Fraccia, Ischitelli. The center of Latronico has a population of about 1,800 inhabitants; the most populous hamlets are Agromonte Magnano and Mileo and Calda.
The center is divided into two main areas: the upper part, where there is the historic centre and all the commercial activities and offices. The historic center, in dialect Capadavutu, is characterized by the particular shape of the houses, set to form the typical Carrare (a maze of narrow streets, no more than a meter wide, that form corridors between the outer walls of the houses) and a series of historic buildings (Palazzo Arcieri) and churches (Basilica Minore di St. Egidio Abate, St. Nicholas Church). Inside, you can also admire numerous portals and shrines made with the grey stone of Latronico. In the lower part of town we find Piazza Umberto I, the core center of the country, the meeting place of Latronichesi (inhabitants of Latronico). Others neighbourhoods branch off from the square are Munisteriu, where there was a monastery of Byzantine monks, Fontana and Villa, and Viscigliu, more recently built and characterized by highest concentration of inhabitants.
Just 3 km far from the center of Latronico, there is the hamlet of Calda, where you can find the sulfur springs, the prehistoric caves, the municipal Museums and, near the river Sinni, the thermal complex with accommodations and the sports center.
Located approximatively 10 km away from Latronico, there are the hamlets of Agromonte Magnano and Mileo. In this territory you can admire majestic beeches, oaks and chestnuts; usually, if you take autumn strolls, you can see wild mushrooms or asparagus. The two hamlets have a good entrepreneurial activity and several.
